I was quite appalled to read in the latest edition of Private Eye magazine the plight of an author attempting to sell his new book using those Amazonian coves (and particularly the "Kindle" edition), who for some specious technical reason ("misleading metadata", whatever the devil that means) has had his account terminated and is therefore being forced to seek legal redress. The book may be of particular interest to many in these halls, being the autobiography of a little-known Golden Age racing driver and speed-record holder Alfred Goldie Gardner. Written by a well-regarded motoring journalist and endorsed by the Duke of Richmond (of Goodwood fame) and the National Motor Museum it has by all accounts received glowing reviews (I will endeavour to post my own thoughts in due course) and looks to be a fascinating read. I have just ordered myself a copy but not from Amazon (who are still stocking the hardback, it seems) and if you intend to do the same I urge you to buy from a different bookseller to show these swines what for.
