Given my long-time interest in numismatics (that's the collecting of old coins, in case you were wondering) I was intrigued to learn recently that the reverse (tails) designs on British coinage are to undergo another change at the end of the year following the accession of King Charles III. Ostensibly redesigned both to help young children to count (and the return of numerical figures is a welcome one) and to celebrate the King's love of nature this is nonetheless still something of a surprise given the last update was only fifteen years ago (and the new £1 coin only introduced in 2016). However the new designs look inoffensive and distinctive enough; I particularly like the 5p, 10p and £2 coins and look forward to seeing them all in my change from 2024 onwards.
