I think the second weekend of December is not too early to start with the Christmas music , so to get into the spirit of the thing here is a jazzy rendition of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town from the very year it was written, 1934 (also when another now-traditional seasonal song, Winter Wonderland was written - more on which later) and recorded by Harry Reser and his Orchestra on the 24th October - so nearly 90 years ago!

Jumping forwards just a little today for this excellent arrangement of Jingle Bells recorded by Benny Goodman and his Orchestra in 1935.

As mentioned above Winter Wonderland was written in the same year as Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (1934) and here is the first ever recording of it, cut in New York on the 23rd October 1934 by Richard Himbler and his Ritz-Carlton Orchestra (vocalist Joey Nash).

A lesser-heard Christmas song now, recorded in London in 1933 by Henry Hall and the BBC Dance Orchestra, The Santa Claus Express starts its journey tonight! 🎅🚂🎄

My favourite go-to at Christmas is O Come All Ye Faithful.
