Awfully boring, I know, so I'll try to keep things as brief as possible. It goes without saying that we're all a lovely bunch of friendly coves here and in an ideal world one wouldn't need this section (and as someone once said, "rules are for the obedience of fools and the guidance of wise men") but the internet is a veritable web of behavioural patterns both good and bad so it's best to be on the safe side.
• Respect! There will be no racism, name calling, flaming, personal vendettas, trolling or other such behaviour. Treat others the way you like to be treated yourself and if you can't voice your opinion nicely, you might want to consider not speaking up at all. Heavy topics such as politics and religion can be discussed - ideally only at the Bar - but do try to keep it civil and remember that while you may not agree with them, everybody has the right to their own opinions. By all means argue your case but don’t try to force your own views on to others. Try to refrain from making political or religious comments (however well meant) anywhere else. Obviously, this also applies to the PM system.
• No spam. Not even of the processed meat variety. Nobody likes to be bombarded with unwanted ads and such. If you want to promote a website, blog, YouTube channel, et cetera which is related to this forum's topic, go right ahead. But don't swamp us with it, especially if it's something commercial.
• Apply general netiquette. Try to use proper grammar, et cetera, where possible. If you think you might be posting stuff that could be annoying to others, you probably are. Again, use your common sense and things will be tickety-boo.
• Use the proper board for your topic. You'll get much more response to your question or comment if people can find it. So take a look at the different boards before you post and check a) which board would be most fitting for your topic and b) whether or not someone else already posted the same thing.
• If you see something that strikes a nerve, don't just jump on it. Count to 10. Think about it, maybe just exit the topic altogether. If you see something truly offensive, report it to the moderators.
I say, that wasn't too bad, was it? I may have missed some things here but in the end, I think everyone knows how to behave online. Just be nice, try not to offend others and keep your wits about you. After all, we're here because we have a common passion and we want to have fun with that.
Now get out there and start posting!
