Lately I have been attempting to complete my collection of The Chap magazine (almost complete up to issue 100, at which time I began to lose interest in that once august organ's direction) by going in search of early single-digit issues and the ones in the 40s during what I call The Great A4 Format Disaster of 2009. At the same time I have been revisiting the initial copies in my collection to whet the jolly appetite and refresh the old memory. Oh! what joy, what pure entertainment, enlightenment and erudition awaited me. I had forgotten (again) just how irreverent, subversive and vibrant The Chap was in those first years - a nonpareil of chappist agit-fop and anarchodandyism. It has inspired my once again to try and embrace as best I can these aspects of the movement more and I can find no better source material to help me on my way. If you can find original copies of The Chap I urge you to grab them and absorb all that is within them for there is the true essence of Chappism. Oh, and if anyone has nos. 1-4, 42 or 45 and don't want them any more, do let me know!

I've happened upon a couple of issues available to view online via issuu.
For anyone with an inclination to peruse them, they're to be found at the following links:

Excellent! Thanks for that Freddie Devere - I shall look forward to viewing them at my leisure. I stopped reading The Chap after about issue 100 so will be interested to see what direction the old mag has taken since I last leafed through a copy.
