Well there's another " all-time greatest victory for the ages" that I've gone and missed! Why is it that whenever I tune in to listen to the England Test team on the wireless we always seem to get skittled out for a middling score (at best) in the first innings - one that appears easily reachable by our opponents who then proceed to hit us all around the ground - to the point where I give it up as a lost cause (again) and switch off, only to discover later that we have pulled off another miraculous win? Then when I do keep listening for the full five days we end up being true to [old] form and get our hats comprehensively handed to us. Am I some kind of Test cricketing bad omen?! Maybe I am just not entering into the proper spirit of Test cricket. After all I'm sure it is all part of the our rich tradition that a true cricket fan should experience the full five days' rollercoaster of hope and despair when following the England team. Perhaps I ought to have a few stiff drinks, grit my teeth and simply enjoy the ride?
